The typical gun that was used by pirates when they attacked merchant ships to rob them of their loot.

The geographical areas (the seas) in which the pirates acted were the Caribbean Sea, the area of the Strait of Gibraltar, Madagascar, the Red Sea, the Persian Gulf and the South China Sea. It is said that it was in the latter that there was the highest number of pirates, as well as the most feared, due to the atrocities for which they were responsible during attacks on ships.

One of the fundamental rules of pirates was to oblige the entire "crew" to always keep their weapons ready and clean. When pirates were captured, they were not imprisoned, but were immediately executed, usually by hanging.

The gun, one of a kind, stands out for the fine type of wood used and for the attention to detail in the decorations.
